Plant disaster risk assessment
Plant disaster risk assessment is a method of quantitatively evaluating risk by scientifically and statistically analyzing the "frequency of occurrence" and "magnitude of impact" of serious accidents such as fires, explosions, and toxic substance leaks, i.e., QRA (Quantitative Risk Assessment).
It visualizes potential risks that are difficult to see through qualitative assessments that rely on experience and intuition, and supports corporate decision-making, such as determining the optimal safety investment.
Examples of work achievements
- We conducted literature reviews both domestically and internationally, systematized risk assessment methods based on the latest knowledge, and carried out risk assessments targeting coal-fired power plants overseas.
- We conduct process safety risk assessments at advanced technology research institutions, prioritize necessary countermeasures, and formulate specific countermeasures.
Firefighting plans and firefighting tactics
Using our proprietary simulation programs, we examine the appropriate placement of firefighting equipment such as fire trucks and foam cannons in tank fires and process area fires. Furthermore, based on a multifaceted analysis of the simulation results, we propose highly effective firefighting tactics.
Examples of work achievements
- We conducted literature research both domestically and internationally, systematized effective firefighting tactics for tank fires based on the latest knowledge, and formulated them as practical operational guidelines.
- A firefighting plan was formulated based on a tank fire extinguishing simulation using a large-capacity foam cannon.
- For each case based on wind direction and speed, we performed optimal placement of foam cannons based on water discharge simulations, laid out equipment, calculated hose pressure loss, calculated the required amount of foam concentrate, calculated radiant heat, and selected water intake locations.
Fire department application support
When constructing or expanding hazardous materials facilities, it is essential to provide comprehensive explanations of safety measures, including equipment, processes, and accident prevention measures. Our company conducts design reviews of these measures from a comprehensive perspective and compiles them into supplementary documents for fire department applications. We support you in providing sufficient explanations to the relevant fire department from the initial stages.
Examples of work achievements
- When constructing a new general handling facility for a chemical plant, we compiled legal requirements and considered countermeasures regarding separation distances between hazardous materials facilities and buildings, fire resistance time of walls, floors, and columns, the necessity of explosion-proof structures, and the classification of hazardous areas.
- We are considering various explosion-proof measures, including internal pressure chambers, internal pressure explosion protection, and ventilation systems.
- Support for fire department applications, including creating work process manuals.
Domestic and International Company Safety Standards
Based on national laws and regulations, as well as internationally recognized standards and criteria, we provide comprehensive support for everything from the creation of new safety standards documents to their updates. Beyond simply establishing standards, we contribute to fostering a safety culture that is applicable across your global locations and strengthening your company's global governance.
Examples of work achievements
- Support for creating safety-related standards (assisting with the creation and revision of safety-related standards that are required as Japanese companies globalize, in order to make them global standards).
Pig transfer pressure calculation
By using a calculation program to determine the pressure required for tasks such as pipe cleaning and liquid draining with a pig, the pig transfer pressure can be determined in advance, thereby reducing operational costs.
